Unconstrained delegation on an account that is not a domain controller (T1558, T1550.003)
This account is trusted for unconstrained delegation. Services running as it keep the credentials of every user who authenticates to them and can use those credentials anywhere.
Why it matters
Anyone who controls this account or its host can reuse the credentials of any user who connects to it, including administrators.
How GraphnAI finds it
It runs after every sync, on each connected domain or tenant on its own. It applies to Active Directory.
It reads:
- The directory attributes
userAccountControlandaccountEnabled
Tiered Fidelity™ level: Theoretical
Every finding from this check carries the Theoretical level.
- TheoreticalThis checkConfigured in the directory. Nothing else checked.
- ConstrainedA constraint on it has been checked.
- ValidatedTelemetry has seen it in use.
How Select Fire™ fixes it
How to fix it
Clear the unconstrained delegation setting. If a service on this host needs to forward credentials, configure constrained delegation to the specific services it needs.
What Select Fire changes
Select Fire opens from the finding and simulates each change on your live graph before anything changes in your directory.
- Clear unconstrained delegationSemi-Auto: you authorize each change. Full-Auto never runs it.
Services on this host stop forwarding users' credentials. Move any service that needs it to delegation to specific services. Changing this setting needs an account allowed to enable delegation.
By hand: On the account's Delegation tab, choose not to trust it for delegation. If a service needs to forward credentials, configure delegation to the specific services instead.
